2. Status Indicator RAPs 2-40 CMT-130TC Book Trimmer
RAP 2.32 Left and Right Clamp Cylin-
ders
Outputs 15 & 29
Whenever the top of a book is trimmed, air pres-
sure to the left clamp cylinder is turned off and
air pressure to the right clamp cylinder is turned
on. Whenever the bottom of a book is trimmed,
the opposite is true. Whenever the face of the
book is trimmed, air pressure to both the left and
right cylinders is turned on. Air pressure to the
center clamp cylinder is always turned on.
Possible Fault Indicators

Air pressure to the left clamp cylinder
does not turn off while trimming the top
of a book, causing the clamp to come
down too far on the left side during a cut
(sometimes causing excessive creasing
in the book spine).

Air pressure to the right clamp cylinder
does not turn off while trimming the bot-
tom of a book, causing the clamp to
come down too far on the right side dur-
ing a cut (sometimes causing excessive
creasing in the book spine).
Initial Actions
Perform RAP 2.20 Pneumatic Pressure.
Check for air leaks and disconnected or pinched
hoses.
Check for loose or damaged wires 70 and 94 at
the electrical panel.
Check that the cable connectors on valve #13
are connected properly.
Procedure
1. Switch the main air ON and main power ON.
2. Manually activate valve #13 by pressing the
13A actuator button (Figure 2-49). Repeat
with the 13B actuator button. Does the
valve activate in both cases?
Y N
Disconnect power and replace valve #13
(PL 5.22 Pneu. Manifold Asm. 59012-1).
3. Electrically activate valve #13 by shorting
wire 70 to 74 on the main PWB. Remove the
short then short wire 94 to 74. Does the
valve activate in both cases?
Y N
Disconnect power and replace valve #13
(PL 5.22 Pneu. Manifold Asm. 59012-1).
4. Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).
