2. Status Indicator RAPs

 

RAP 2.55 Elevator Lift Motor 

Elevator I/O PWB Output 2 

The elevator lift motor lifts all of the elevator 
shelves upward incrementally.  The motor is lo-
cated in the base of the Elevator (Figure 2-82).  

Possible Fault Indicators 

 

The Elevator never lifts. 

 

The Elevator continuously lifts until the 
timeout period. 

Initial Actions 

Check inside the Elevator for a book jam be-
tween the side frames and the lift plates.   

Check that all cables between the trimmer, Ele-
vator, and Tilt Infeed Conveyor are securely fas-
tened and are not damaged. 

Check for a tripped circuit breaker CB1 on the 
Elevator electrical panel. 

Check for loose or damaged motor wires at the 
Elevator electrical panel. 

Check that the Elevator pusher microswitch is 
functioning and set properly (RAP 2.65 Elevator 
Pusher Interlock). 

If lift motor runs continuously, check the lift plate 
position sensor (RAP 2.62 Shelf Level Detect 
Sensor). 

Procedure 

1.  Perform RAP 2.51 Elevator Input Power to 

make sure the Elevator is getting proper 
power. 

2.  Switch the main power ON and press the 

green start button to initialize the trimmer.  
Remove the Elevator lift motor cover.  Feed 

a book into the Elevator.  Is there a mechan-
ical "click" sound from the lift motor brake 
when the Elevator should start lifting? 

Y  N 

Disconnect power and replace the motor 
brake (PL 5.32 Elevator 56421TCA (5/7)). 

3.  With the 

trimmer’s hydraulic motor is still 

running, go to the Elevator diagnostic screen 
(GP 6.2 Input/Output Diagnostics) and ena-
ble outputs. 

Press the “Lift Book” button.   

4.  Is there 24 VDC between wires 51 and 73 at 

SSR1? 

Y  N 

Disconnect power and replace the Elevator 
I/O PWB (REP 4.26 Accessory PWB Re-
placement). 

5.  Is there 120 VAC between wire 27 at SSR1 

and wire 22 at the electrical panel? 

Y  N 

Disconnect power and replace SSR1 (PL 
5.37 Elev. Electrical Panel EE-3523). 

6.  Disconnect power and replace the motor (PL 

5.32 Elevator 56421TCA (5/7)).
