4. Repair/Adjustment Procedures
REP 4.24 Console PWB Replacement
The following procedure outlines the steps nec-
essary to replace the console PWB. The con-
sole PWB stores machine-specific data such as
calibration data, jobs, and machine settings that
should be backed up before replacing the con-
sole PWB. Backup instructions are included in
the procedure below.
CAUTION
Observe standard ESD protection procedures
while replacing any PWB's. Damage may result
due to static discharge.
Procedure
1. If there are jobs stored in machine memory
that you would like to keep, turn the power
off, insert a USB flash drive in the machine,
turn the power back on. Press the green
start button and go to the jobs screen. Click
the "Copy All" button and follow the prompts
on the screen to copy the jobs to the USB
drive.
Important! Backup stored machine settings
and parameters as follows:

switch the main power ON.

ress the “Setup” button to bring up the
setup options, then p
ress the “Service Info”
tab to open the Service Info screen. Click
on th
e “Enable Tabs Code” text box, enter in
the code

and press enter. This will un-
lock all of the locked tabs.

Press the “Options & Updates” tab to open
the Options and Updates screen.
5.
Click on “Save USB Params” and follow
prompts on the screen.
6. As an extra precaution, it may be helpful to
take pictures and/or write down the settings
shown in all seven of the Setup
tabs/screens.
7. Switch the main power OFF and lockout
power to the machine.
WARNING
Disconnect and lockout power as described
in the Power Lockout Procedure on page ix.
8. Remove the eight screws holding the display
console in place.
9. Pull the top of the console assembly out-
ward while laying the console flat, until the
bottom of the console assembly hangs from
the opening in the top/front cover.
10. Disconnect all cable connectors from the
main PWB.
11. Remove the four nuts that mount the PWB
to standoffs on the console (Figure 4-42).
12. Carefully remove the new PWB from the
electro-static bag that it was shipped in, and
place the old PWB in the empty bag.
13. Install the new PWB on the four standoffs on
the electrical panel, and attach it securely
with all four nuts.
14. Securely connect all cables to the new
PWB.
15. Carefully place the console assembly back
into position, making sure not to pinch any
cables when doing so.
16. Attach the console assembly with the eight
screws holding it in place
17. To restore machine settings and parameters
that was backed up earlier, insert the USB
flash drive with the backup file on it into the
front console.
18. Restore power to the machine and switch
the main power ON.

tab to open the Service Info screen. Click
on the “Enable Tabs Code” text box, enter in

and press enter. This will un-
lock all of the locked tabs.

Press the “Options & Updates” tab to open
the Options and Updates screen.

Click on “Load USB Params” and follow
prompts on the screen.
22. Make sure that the settings in all seven
setup tabs/screens match those recorded
earlier.
23. Run a few test books through the trimmer to
make sure everything is working properly.
