XLR 550 Manual
5.1.5.2.
VLAN Stacking for XLR 550 Series
In the example above we have VLAN10, VLAN20, VLAN30 and VLAN40 on each side of the network.
These can connect to each other by re-tagging these as pvid 100. If your using a VLAN stacking Ethernet
Switch, it
’
s possible to join to another VLAN Network without losing the internal VLAN information
If your using the
‘
doubletag
’
function to S0 (the DSL line) then when a tagged frame comes into e0 and
the XLR 550 will allocate a pvid 100 tag to e0
’
s traffic before it transmit the data out of the XLR.
Similarly an additional tag of pvid of 100 will be added to data coming into e2 before it
’
s transmitted out
to S0.
If a frame with VLAN stacking comes into S0, it deletes that tag which was added by the XLR, putting
that frame back to normal.

Simple QoS Bridge (Fixed Priority)
5.2.1.
Overview
Where a simple
‘
LAN Extension
’
is requires all packets are processed on a first come first served basis. If
congestion occurs on the WAN link, packets will be dropped irrespective of the type of packet or
application. While this will have no effect on web browsing or the downloading of files, applications such
as Voice Over IP or IP TV can have serious problems.
Under these circumstance, the XLR 550
‘
Packet Priority Control
’
should be enabled to allow packets to be
transmitted in order of priority.
