Automated Tests
In addition to the tests just described, the ventilator also runs automated Software/Firmware checks
to watch for the following:
• Sensor failure
• Out of range sensor values
• Failure of valves
• Blower failure or overheating (pressure generation system)
• Electronics failure or overheating
• Cooling fans failure
• Failure of communication between software and firmware
Failure of any of these tests results in a high priority Ventilator Malfunction notification and triggers
the ventilator’s Fail Safe mode.
IMPORTANT: The ventilator cannot be used if any of the automated tests identify a ventilator failure;
it must be taken out of service. Refer to the Troubleshooting section for more information.
