Step 1: Place Ventilator in Work Area
The work area should contain enough room for all equipment, easy access to the ventilator, and
access to a power source. CAE recommends a work area of approximately 1 meter by 1 meter (3 feet
x 3 feet). If using pressurized oxygen supply from an in-wall source, ensure the CAE Air1 is located in
close proximity to the pressurized oxygen location. Secure the CAE Air1 using the wheel locks on the
caster wheels.
Step 2: Connect the Oxygen Supply (Optional)
Connect the CAE Air1 to a pressurized oxygen supply if the patient requires ventilation with an FiO
2
above that of ambient air (21%).
Note: Medical grade oxygen must be used. The O
2
supply should be regulated to 50 psi and be
compatible with supply pressures between 40 and 60 psi.
Follow local protocol for connecting the ventilator to a pressurized oxygen supply (tank or in-wall).
This is an optional step since the ventilator can operate without oxygen supply on room air.
To connect to the oxygen supply, connect the CAE-supplied oxygen tube from the pressurized oxygen
supply to the oxygen port located on the back of the ventilator base.
