PANEL PRO
If the machine is not going to be used for a couple days, cover it with a cloth.
There are 16 grease zerks. Grease once a month with general purpose grease. One
or 2 shots of grease should be adequate.
Collet maintenance:
The picture on the left
shows a collet after
cutting a King Air
panel. It should be
cleaned whenever the
end mill is changed.
An Exacto knife or a 6”
rule can be used to
clean the collet slots
out. When the major
crud has been
removed, blow out the
collet and collet bore
with an air hose.
Any chips in the collet system will cause the end mill to run out of true. This will cause
the end mill to break more frequently because the flutes are not equally sharing the
load.
If an end mill breaks inside the collet, gently run a 1/8” fine round file inside to remove
burrs. Plan to replace the collet every 6 months or so. To avoid end mill slippage, the
collet should be installed dry. That however invites corrosion so It is a good practice to
remove, clean and dry when not in use. The collet nut threads should be oiled.
