applicator (lack of enabling signal, stop owing to a reject, stopping), the
piece is always and in any case stopped under the second (last) head.
For example, in the case of static application, the piece will stop under
the first head, will be labelled, restarted and will stop under the second
head to be labelled.
If the "label delayed" condition occurs, the message will indicate which
head (1 or 2) has caused the fault.
The piece is only considered to have been totalized when both its labels
have been applied.
If only one layout is specified, only one label will be printed on the first or
second head, depending on which layout has been specified. Similarly to
the case of the single head operating mode, the specification of both
layouts can be omitted. Here again, piece totalizing only occurs after
both the application targets have tripped.
Unlike the single head operating mode, configuration of the second
head's COM cannot be omitted from the machine configuration.
The "Label delayed" message is still the only one that retains an
indication as to which of the two heads caused the fault.
6.5.2 Alternative head
The "alternative head" operating mode (identified by symbols "1" or "2")
allows the machine to be used as though only one printing head were
installed, with the ability to imediately change the printing head used.
To switch from the "additional head" mode to the "alternative head"
mode and vice versa, go to the main window (the function is not yet
available in the remote control mode) and press keys
ALT-D
. When the
users switches from the "additional head" mode to the "alternative head"
mode, the first is always selected as operating head. All the pieces in the
machine are reset in both changeovers and the user is currently not
informed about this in any way.
The operator can switch from one head to the other at any time (both in
and out of the process) by pressing keys
ALT-X
. If the heads are
switched during the process, pressing the keys is the same as executing
a macro. Thus, the pieces in the machine are set in position, the line
stops, the new head is programmed and the line starts again.
If label reserve sensors are connected to the machine, switching also
occurs in the automatic mode when the sensor of the operating head is
