6.2 Possible failures in gearbox and instructions for their troubleshooting
The list of possible failures in gearbox and instructions for their troubleshooting are shown
in Table 6.2.
Table 6.2
Failure,
external manifestation, cause
Troubleshooting
Tractor fails to start in any gear, the transmission hydraulic system
operates properly
Wear of clutch shaft spline joint,
primary shaft or a coupling bushing
Disconnect the tractor, disassemble the clutch
case and gear-box casing, replace worn-out parts
A gear can not be engaged
Wear of transmission yoke plate or
clutch
Disconnect the tractor, dismount the gearbox and
replace worn-out parts
Synchronizer damage
Disconnect the tractor, dismount the gearbox and
replace worn-out parts
“L-H” pass of GB reduction unit can not be engaged on tractors with GB 24x12
Sticking or failure of the hydraulic
cylinder valve for control of switch-
ing of GB reduction unit pass
Rinse the valve spool. Replace the valve if neces-
sary
The cylinder of GB reduction unit
pass shifting is not adjusted
Adjust the cylinder of GB reduction unit pass shift-
ing
Synchronizer for GB reduction unit
shifting is damaged
Replace the synchronizer and worn-out parts
Increased noise
Not enough oil in the transmission
Refill oil up to the required level mark
Wear or damage of bearings and
other transmission components
Replace worn-out bearings and other damaged
parts
The engine fails to start when the range shifting lever is set in neutral position or
starts when a range is engaged
Faulty switch for engine start-up
lock with the range engaged
Replace the switch for engine start-up lock with the
range engaged
The switch for engine start-up lock
with the range engaged is not ad-
justed
Adjust the switch for engine start-up lock with the
range engaged
A range can not be engaged or becomes self-disengaged
Wear of transmission yoke plate or
clutch
Disconnect the tractor, dismount the gearbox and
replace worn-out parts
Noisy gear shifting
Incomplete clutch coupling disen-
gagement (clutch grabs and shud-
ders)
Adjust clutch coupling according to subsection 6.1
Wear of synchronizer conic sur-
faces
Replace worn-out parts
Oil leakage in the dry compartment of the clutch coupling casing
Oil leakage through connection:
bowl
cover
case, or through
connection: shifter bracket
clutch coupling case
Disconnect the tractor in order to detach the en-
gine from clutch coupling case and stop leakage
Oil leakage through cups
Disconnect the tractor in order to detach from
clutch coupling case and replace cups
