ISDN MSN
Multiple Subscriber Numbering (MSN) is a service which you
buy from your local ISDN service provider. MSN allows the user
to specify which service an incoming call will use, based on the
phone number dialled by the calling party.
When an ISDN call is received the router is presented with two
numbers, the Calling Line Identifier (CLI), which is the number
of the caller, and the number which is being called (Called
Number).

In this example taken from the Trace Window (Appendix A),
01234384100 is the CLI. 384000 is the Called Number. Some
service providers may not display the CLI or the Called Number
if MSN is not installed.
When you buy ISDN MSN from your service provider, your
original telephone number becomes 10 numbers. For example, if
the original number was 384000, with ISDN MSN this number
becomes 384000 to 384009.
When an ISDN call is received by the router, it is presented with
the CLI and a number representing the MSN. This second number
changes depending on the service provider. Some providers will
show only the MSN (0 to 9), others will show two digits (00 to
09) and still others will show more digits.

In this example, we see two calls, both originating from the CLI
of 01234384100. The first call dialled the MSN number ending in
00 and the second call dialled the MSN number ending in 01.
To see exactly what your unit receives, open the Trace Window
while an ISDN call is being received. The Trace Window will
show the CLI and the MSN portion presented to the router as in
the examples above.
