14.5.1 Flat tyre
ATTENTION
RISK OF FALLING AND ACCIDENTS
An incorrect repairing may cause several risks during the ride. Perform these operations on your own
only if you have the appropriate tools.
To repair a flat tyre, you will need the following tools:
●
2 tyre-changer levers.
●
New inner tube with tyre Sclaverand valve of appropriate diameter.
●
New tyre, if necessary.
●
Pump with the end suitable for the valve.
1.
Unmount the wheel group (See section 12.1.1). To unmount the back wheel, contact a specialised garage.
2.
Spin the valve nut until complete stop.
3.
Push the valve with your finger until all the air left inside comes out.
4.
Remove then nut from the valve base.
5.
Lift the tyre from the rim using the tyre-changer levers, starting from the point opposite to the valve.
6.
Extract the inner tube from the tyre. Take note of the inner tube orientation inside the tyre.
7.
Look for the cause:
●
Inflate the broken inner tube with the pump.
●
Search for the point where the air comes out.
●
If you found the loss turn the inner tube around so the valve is on the inner part.
8.
If the loss is on the inside:
●
Check if the flap is correctly in place: all the holes of the spokes must be covered. Otherwise contact
your retailer.
●
Check that the rim is not damaged (corners, shrapnel, etc.…)
If you detect such damages, contact your Official Dealer.
●
Verify if there are two little holes alongside each other.
NOTA BENE:
The presence of two little holes indicates a “snake bite”, which may occur if you pass on sharp-cornered obstacles with an
inadequate tyre pressure.
If the rim is not damaged, mount only a new inner tube.
9.
If the loss is on the outside:
●
Keep the inner tube next to the tyre as it was mounted. Search the tyre in correspondence of the hole in the
inner tube. Very often in the tyre there is a thorn, a little stone or glass shrapnel.
ATTENTION
RISK OF INJURIES CAUSED BY CUT
If you touch the inner part of the tire, you may cut your finger with potential sharp objects that were
left inside the tyre.
−
Avoid running your fingers rapidly inside the tyre.
−
Touch the tyre carefully.
