Product Overview
The MergePoint
TM
service processor (SP) manager is a secure, centralized enterprise management
solution for target devices equipped with IPMI, HP iLO and Dell DRAC service processors. Users
can remotely perform server management tasks, including power control and console access, on
managed target devices.
The MergePoint 5200 SP manager provides a standardized interface independent of the
management protocols used to manage each target device. Management operations can be
performed either by using commands or scripts over a Telnet or Secure Shell (SSH) version 2
session or by using the appliance’s web interface from a standard web browser.
This guide describes how to use the web interface to manage the SP manager. For how to use the
command line and scripting management options, see the MergePoint 5200 Command
Reference Guide.
NOTE: Before using the MergePoint 5200 SP manager, you must register the SP manager online and obtain and
configure license keys. For more information, see Configuring the MergePoint 5200 SP Manager License Keys
on page 9.
Supported Target Devices
The MergePoint 5200 SP manager can manage target devices with service processors (SPs) that
support the following protocols:
• IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) 1.5 and 2.0, SoL (Serial over LAN)
• Dell DRAC III and IV (Dell Remote Access Card)
• Hewlett Packard (HP) iLO (Integrated Lights-Out)
NOTE: The IPMI SP is also referred to as a baseboard management controller (BMC).
