Using the MergePoint 5200
SP Manager

This chapter describes how a user discovers target devices, controls the MergePoint 5200 service
processor manager, configures system settings and views management information.

To perform any of the operations in this chapter, access the MergePoint 5200 SP manager web
interface (see

MergePoint 5200 SP Manager Web Interface

on page 3 for more information). In the

side navigation bar, click the name of the MergePoint 5200 SP manager. The default display name
is MergePoint 5200, but you may change the display name by changing the SP manager alias. See

Changing MergePoint 5200 SP manager network settings

on page 22 for more information.

When the MergePoint 5200 SP manager is selected in the side navigation bar, the following tabs
are available:

•

Targets: Use this tab to display and manage discovered target devices

•

System: Use this tab to configure MergePoint 5200 SP manager settings

•

Users: Use this tab to manage MergePoint 5200 SP manager user accounts

•

Alerts: Use this tab to view, query and activate system alerts

•

Accounting Log: Use this tab to view all MergePoint 5200 SP manager operations

•

Provisioning: Use this tab to configure and view the status of the BMC

BMC Provisioning (IPMI Targets Only)

NOTE:

Automatic provisioning is an optional feature that is only available for target devices that have IPMI

BMCs. You may choose to manually provision the BMC instead of using automatic BMC provisioning.

You can configure the MergePoint 5200 SP manager to automatically provision the IPMI BMC of
a specified target device.

You should make sure the BMC is provisioned before discovering any target devices. Once the
BMC is provisioned and a target device is added to the Managed Targets list, the MergePoint 5200
SP manager assigns an IP address from the specified range and configures a user account on the
BMC with the specified username and password.
