Chapter 8: Advanced features
Shared call appearance
The Avaya Wireless Handset D260 supports BroadWorks Shared Call Appearances.
The Shared Call Appearance (SCA) feature allows multiple handsets to share the same line and
can be used for providing features such as attendant console and key system emulation. Any of
the handsets sharing a line can be used to originate or receive calls and handsets can be
configured to have multiple lines – both shared and private.
The handsets that share a particular line are considered members of an “SCA group” for that line.
Incoming calls on a shared line are presented to all members of the SCA group, i.e. all the
handsets are alerted, and outgoing calls from any of the handsets are presented as originating
from the same extension.
It is possible for the members of an SCA group to monitor the activity on the shared line, for
instance, if a call is active between one handset in the group and a remote end, the other
handsets in the group are notified about the state of that call. It is also possible for members in the
SCA group to barge-in on active calls or to retrieve a call that was put on hold by another member.
When shared call appearances are configured on the BroadWorks application server and enabled
and properly setup on the Avaya base, the Avaya Wireless Handset D260 supports all the above
aspects of the feature by providing the following:
• The current state of shared lines is displayed in an extended status bar.
• Shared lines can be selected for outgoing calls.
• More information on active calls on shared lines and access to SCA specific functionality is
provided on a detailed SCA screen accessible from the idle screen.
Extended status bar
When a handset is a member of one or more SCA groups, the current state of its shared lines is
displayed in an “extended status bar” which is located just below the regular status bar.
The extended status bar can display up to eight icons or “LEDs”, each representing a call
appearance on a shared line. When a call is active on a shared line its corresponding LED will
change color and possibly also start blinking.
The possible colors and blink modes for the LEDs and their respective meanings are as follows:
