LESSON 6
The PCB Board Sensors
OBJECTIVE:
Upon completion of this lesson, the student should be able to
clean, adjust, and verify the sensitivity of the PCB board sensors.
BOARD SENSORS
Board sensors are optic sensors, located along the length of the conveyor rails,
which detect the presence of a board, and report the detection to the dispensing
software. They should be adjusted after initial installation and when the sensors
are failing to sense the presence of the board
An
upward facing sensor
, located below and between the conveyor
rails, reports the presence of a board when the board passes over the
optic sensor.
There is also a
downward facing sensor,
mounted along the top
edge of the rear conveyor rail, which reports the presence of a
board when the board passes underneath the optic sensor.
The optic sensor is mounted along the top edge of the rear conveyor rail. The
sensitivity controls, however, are located under the dispensing area front plate
(which will need to be removed to adjust the sensor) in either the front corner of
the dispensing area.
EXERCISE 3-17
To adjust the upward facing sensors
1.
Locate the LED indicator on the backside of the pre-dispense zone board sensor.
2.
Move the dispensing head over the sensor using the Position Controls.
3.
Turn the sensitivity adjustment screw counter clockwise until the LED or I/O turns OFF.
4.
Move the dispensing head over the sensor, and adjust the conveyor width to fit a board.
5.
Load the board by hand into the pre-dispense zone and position it over the sensor.
6.
Turn the sensitivity adjustment screw clockwise until the LED or the I/O turns ON.
7.
Move the board back and forth over the sensor to test the sensor sensitivity.
8.
Clamp the board in place or activate the lifter table and adjust the sensor again.
EXERCISE 3-18
To adjust the downward facing sensors
1.
Remove the dispensing area front plate and place it in a safe location.
2.
Locate the sensitivity adjustments for the sensor your wish to adjust.
3.
Remove the lid carefully.
4.
Adjust the conveyor width to fit a sample board.
5.
Load the board by hand into the pre-dispense zone and position it under the sensor.
6.
Turn the sensitivity adjustment screw until the LED or the I/O turns ON.
7.
Move the board back and forth under the sensor to test the sensor sensitivity.
8.
Clamp the board in place and adjust the sensor again if the station has a clamp.
