STUDENT GUIDE
LESSON 14 Valve Purging
OBJECTIVE : Upon completion of this lesson, the student should be able to
trace the electrical and pneumatic paths of dispense valve purges.
The Purge or Purge Needle
§
Used by all Asymtek valves and pumps.
§
Can only be invoked when the pump is in dispense ready condition.
Valve Purging
1. The dispenser moves to the Purge Station.
2. The piston moves forward.
3. Fluid is pressed from the pumping chamber.
4. Fluid is pressed into the purge station cup.
DISPENSE VALVE PURGING
SPEED CONTROLLER Allows you to vary the DV06 motor speed.
VALVE PRESSURE Used to move the material from the syringe reservoir
to the feedscrew.
FAILED DV06 INTERFACE See Exercise 2-9 Below.
FAILED DV06 DRIVERS The Automove Driver, an open collector type circuit,
provides power to the DV01 interface. If this circuit
fails, static methods of testing are ineffective. See
Exercise 2-10 Below.
EXERCISE 2-9 Tracing a failed DV06 Interface
1. Turn OFF the dispensing system power.
2. Check the 38V fuse on the dispensing system rear panel.
3. Replace if necessary.
4. Disconnect the CB-036 at J1 of the DV06 Speed Controller Interface.
5. Disconnect the CB-06N Interface Cable from the DV06 Speed Controller Interface and the
DV06 Valve.
6. Check for a short between Pin 1 and 5 of he CB-06N.
7. Measure the resistance between Pin 9 of J1 and pin 1 of J1.
EXERCISE 2-10 Tracing a failed DV06 Drivers
1. Perform previous exercise.
2. Check the solenoid driver fuse at the rear of the machine
3. Replace the fuse with a 1 amp 20mm fuse if required.
