STUDENT GUIDE

LESSON 5

The Fans and the Vents

OBJECTIVE

: Upon completion of this lesson, the student should be able to

clean the fans and the vents.

FAN & VENT MAINTENANCE

•

Located in the floor
underneath the modules in the
rear of the dispenser.

•

Regulate the internal
temperature of the dispenser.

•

Prevent the modules from
over-heating.

EXERCISE 3-16

Cleaning the fans & vents

Turn the Main Power Switch to OFF.

Switch the Main Power Circuit Breaker to OFF.

Open the lower access panel on the back of the dispensing system.

Locate the fans in the floor of the cabinet, underneath the modules.

Decide which modules will need to be removed to gain access to the fan.

Remove the screws at the top and bottom of each module.

Pull each module out of the cabinet and place them in a safe location.

Unplug the fan from its power connector.

Remove the plastic fan cover.

Remove the screws in each corner of the fan using the Philips screwdriver.

11.

Remove the fan assembly.

12.

Clean the fan with a cloth or blown air.

13.

Clean out the dust tray underneath the machine with a cloth or blown air.

14.

Place the fan assembly back in position.

15.

Hold the dust tray in place while re-attaching it with the screws on the fan.

16.

Put the plastic cover back on the fan.

17.

Re-connect the power cable.

18.

Shift any modules that need to be moved in order to gain access to the fan in the corner.

19.

Repeat Steps 9-18 for the second fan.

20.

Re-install all modules that have been moved or removed.

21.

Secure each module with the screws at the top and bottom.

22.

Re-connect all cables and connections to each module.
