Adjust patient surface for patient comfort.
Rotation will be deactivated if head of unit is raised over 35
°
angle. This includes a combination of
Fowler and Trend angles.
Patient Bathing
1.
Discontinue therapy.
2.
Adjust height and level patient surface to facilitate ease of bathing.
3.
Activate and adjust warmer (if indicated) to enhance patient comfort during bathing.
4.
Press
Instaflate On / Off
button to create a firm surface.
Five beeps will sound when the Instaflate function is activated and will sound every 20 minutes until it
is cancelled.
5.
Lower side rails (on caregiver’s side).
6.
Remove arm pack strap from across patient’s torso, if applicable.
7.
Bathe patient following institution protocols. Wipe cover sheet while bathing patient.
Avoid spilling fluids on unit controls. If spills do occur, unplug unit and cancel transport
mode. Clean fluid from unit wearing rubber gloves to avoid any possibility of shock. Once
fluid is removed, plug power cord back into wall outlet and check operation of components
in area of spill. Fluids remaining on controls can cause corrosion, which may cause
components to fail or to operate erratically, possibly producing hazards for patient and staff.
8.
Dry cover sheet with towel. Remaining moisture will evaporate rapidly with air flow.
9.
Position patient on mattress, verifying a one-inch (25 mm) clearance between patient’s axilla and arm
packs, and that top of shoulder is between second and third cushion.
10.
Secure arm pack strap if applicable.
11.
Raise and lock side rails. (If used, refer to
Risks and Precautions
in the
Introduction
chapter of this
manual.)
12.
Press
Instaflate On / Off
button to deactivate
Instaflate
function and return cushions to previous air
pressure settings.
13.
Reactivate rotation and percussion as prescribed. Pulsation will automatically be restored.
