Enable/Disable Speed Detect
Some diagnostic equipment may
attempt to insert into the ring without
immediately issuing a data clock.
Without an associated port speed
detect disable, the adapter card in the
diagnostic equipment might enter
listening mode prior to inserting.
Set Modem Configuration
When using a modem, you set
associated asynchronous serial port
communication parameters using the
SmartLine Management Software.
5.1 Pre-Installation Verification
Before proceeding, verify the following:
•
DIP switch 4 up on all SmartLine 16 MAUs connected to
the PC or modem (see Figure 5-1). (Note that a MAUi
installation specifies placement of switch 4 in the down
position.)

No more than eight SmartLine devices cascaded and
attached to your PC (see Figure 3-3).
•
After installing this software, PC connected to IN port of
SmartLine device, and all cascaded devices connected OUT
to IN in daisy chain (see Figure 3-3).
