Playing a Test Video
Now it’s time to put that nice shiny new Binloop to work and make it
play some video. This section will guide you through the steps
necessary to make that happen.
Preparation
Before you can play video on the Binloop, you need to load video
content onto an SSD (Solid State Disk). To do this, you’ll need the
following items:
1. SSD
2. USB to SATA cable or dock
3. A/V Binloop Uncompressed Test Video
Solid State Disk
In order for reliable and trouble-free operation, please purchase your
SSD’s from Alcorn McBride. The A/V Binloop Uncompressed
requires extremely high performance that many SSD models cannot
achieve. Performance variations exist even between the same model
of SSD due to internal firmware and die changes by the drive
manufacturer. Drives purchased from Alcorn McBride have been
tested and confirmed to work in the A/V Binloop Uncompressed. To
help you select a size that suits your needs, be sure to read over
Appendix B: SSD Media Capacities.
USB to SATA cable
Your A/V Binloop Uncompressed came with a USB 3.0 to SATA3
cable that can be used to transfer data to the drive. Other options for
transferring data to the SSD include Thunderbolt SATA docks, or an
eSATA to SATA cable and power supply.
