Installation
2.3
Installation Procedures Overview
Following the instructions provided below can minimize system installation time.
Detailed illustrations of each component are provided in the following sections.
1.
Unpack:
Unpack the system and confirm that all components have been
received using the Unpacking List.
2.
Rack/Cabinet Installation:
For rack or cabinet installations, the system should
be installed in the rack/cabinet prior to installing the hard drives. Installing the
system into a rack or cabinet requires at least two people because of the weight
of the system. To install the slide rails provided with the system, please refer to
the relevant section.
3.
Install CBM (if necessary):
Install the CBM (BBU + FBM) onto the controller if
purchased as an additional item.
4.
Install Hard Drives:
Separately purchased SAS/SATA hard drives must be
individually installed into the drive trays.
5.
Install Drive Trays:
After the hard drives have been installed into the drive
trays, the drive trays can be installed into the enclosure (install trays AFTER the
enclosure has been mounted onto the rack).
6.
Cable Connection:
Use the supplied power cords to connect the system to a
power supply. We recommend connecting the power cords to separate and
independent power sources (different circuit breakers for redundancy).
7.
Power Up:
Once the components are installed and all cables are connected,
power up the system and configure the RAID array.
2.4
Unpacking the System
Compare the items on the Unpacking List included in the shipping package against
the actual package contents to confirm that all required materials have arrived.
2.4.1
Box Contents
For detail content(s), please refer to the Unpacking List provided with the system.
The additional items include a serial port cable, screws, a CD containing the
SANWatch management software and its manual and Firmware Operation Manual,
and a product utility CD containing the Quick Installation Guide, the Unpacking List,
and the Installation and Hardware Reference Manual (this document).
2.4.2
