Controller Module of JBOD Models
The expansion JBOD controllers feature SAS expansion ports (1), SAS expansion
port status LEDs (2), controller status LEDs (3), extraction levers, and retention
screws (4).
The expansion controller contains a circuit board within a metal canister, interfaced
through hot swap docking connectors at the back-end. Two SAS wide ports on the
interface faceplate connect to a managing RAID system or other JBODs.
1.7.3
Cache Backup Module
The CBM, located inside the controller, consists of a BBU (1) and FBM (2). The CBM
can sustain cache memory after a power failure. The use of a CBM is highly recom-
mended to safeguard data integrity. If you are using a single-controller model and
would like to install a CBM, refer to CBM Installation.
Warning!
The controller should only ever be removed to replace a failed controller.
The controller features sensitive components; unnecessary tampering
can damage the controller.
