Degraded Mode (drive failure)
When a drive fails, the physical number of the defective drive is displayed on the operation panel and
the status indicator next to the failed drive turns red. If the buzzer is switched on, it will beep. If a
drive fails, it should be replaced as soon as possible.
This display indicates that the subsystem is in degraded mode, which
means that one of the drives has failed. When the buzzer mode is
switched on, the buzzer beeps and STOP BUZZER appears on the
display.
To turn the buzzer off, press the select button. When the buzzer
mode is off, this is replaced by the DRIVE n FAIL display as shown
in the next figure.
This is the final display for degraded mode.
If a spare drive fails, the system goes to degraded mode, the drive
number is displayed.
If a data drive and a spare drive fail simultaneously, the drive
numbers are displayed, where n is the main drive and m is the spare
drive.
