Using the VI Client to Configure iSCSI Services
Follow the instructions in the
VMware Server Configuration Guide
, available at
http://www.vmware.com
to configure your iSCSI service. Use the VI Client to:

Create the VMKernal on the NIC card used for the iSCSI connection.

Configure the Service Console that connects to the VMware host.

Enable the iSCSI software initiator, set up target IP addresses, and configure
CHAP authentication. Rescan if necessary to see the new iSCSI service.

Use the
Add Storage
option to configure your storage.
iSCSI Configuration for Solaris
This section provides information on the setup and configuration of the Sun Solaris
10 iSCSI initiator. For more information regarding installation and configuration of
required Solaris components, refer to the documentation included with the Sun
Solaris iSCSI initiator installation.
Configuration Notes
• The Sun Solaris iSCSI initiator does not support iSCSI devices that use SLP. The
Sun Solaris iSCSI initiator does not offer boot support for iSCSI devices.
• Do not configure iSCSI targets as dump devices when using them with the Sun
Solaris iSCSI initiator.
• The Sun Solaris iSCSI initiator supports only a single connection per session.
Configuring iSCSI Target Discovery

Log in as a superuser.

Configure the iSCSI target device to be discovered dynamically or statically.
• To configure dynamic discovery with SendTargets, enter:
# iscsiadm add discovery-address
IP_address
where
IP_address
is the IP address of the iSCSI target.
The iSCSI connection is not initiated until the discovery method is enabled.
