to set the surface settings and to visualize the result during the acquisition process.
Since ZScan 2.0, the rendering of the surface has been redone and improved for more
performance and better looks.
When this mode is activated, the surface functions are activated in the toolbar. These
functions are summarized in the table below.

Toolbar Icon
Menu
Action
Edit | Move
Volume
Move the surface volume bounding box while
the object remains stationary.
The controls used for moving the volume are
the same as the ones used in the 3D viewer.
Edit | Center
Volume
Translate the bounding box automatically to
the center of the object.
This function does not rotate the bounding box
to fit the object better.
Edit | Fit
Volume
Center and rotate the bounding box around the
scan and resize it to the smallest possible value
that will include all laser curves already
acquired, regardless of whether they are inside
the current volume or not or if the facets have
already been deleted.
Surface Mode Expanding Panels
When in surface mode, two expanding panels
are available to the user. They contain
information about the surface that is in the 3D
Viewer as well as additional functions.
The first expanding panel is the Surface Details
panel. It displays a summary of the surface
reconstruction settings, such as the volume size
and the resolution. This expanding panel is only
explicative.
The second expanding panel is the Surface
Parameters panel. It allows the user to adjust
surface reconstruction settings according to his
needs, such as the volume size. The Fit Volume
and Center Volume functions are also available
via this expanding panel. Note that the volume
size affects directly the resolution of the scan.
A temporary volume bounding box is created in
the 3D viewer when these parameters are changed, and the changes are applied only
