Reference Mode
The ZScanner 800 is self-positioning and must find its position in
space by itself; to do so, it must determine an origin for each
scan. The scanner will use the first detected position to fix the
coordinates system. When the first targets are detected, the
scanner uses its internal position to define the system with "X”
pointing down (red), "Y” pointing at its left (green) and "Z”
moving away from the scanner (blue).
Even if this positioning method works perfectly in the ZScanner
800 world, it is often very practical to be able to use another reference, or simply add
one. For example, a user may want to scan in a pre-defined positioning system to avoid
having to align the scan afterward in a third party qualification software for comparison
purposes. It may also be very useful in the case where multiple scans need to be
positioned together.
When expanded, this mode will show all the references available in the current scan.
Each of them can be renamed and set as the origin of the current scan. While in
Reference mode, the 3D Viewer shows the references and the facets. The current origin is
labeled (Origin) in the scan tree.

Surface Mode
When selected, the surface is displayed in the 3D Viewer. The
surface is a representation of the object being scanned from
a specific viewpoint. It is important to note that this is not the
final result of the scan, but rather a quick visualization in order
