But with too much weight in front, the bow will be pushed
down. This could lead to a dangerous situation.
Too much weight at the back of the boat will raise the bow.
This increases the risk of capsizing, especially when steering
into the wind.
Securing loose equipment
Secure loose equipment while boating.
Bailing
Make sure you have at least one hand bailer or bucket on
board and secure it well.
Drain plug
• Close the drain plug when the boat is in the water. The
slider should then be in the lowest position.
• Once you have taken the boat out of the water, you can
open the drain plug to drain the water out of the boat (it
helps if you hold the bow up slightly).
6 .2 Using the boat outboard motor powered
W
arninG
Ensure everyone sits with their feet on the bottom of the
boat to avoid falling overboard.
Make sure the motor is in neutral before starting it.
Always accelerate very slowly.
Be mindful of other watersport enthusiasts and swimmers.
• Avoid creating any annoying wake and noise pollution.
• Comply with waterway speed limits.
• Be considerate of nature and the environment.
Always bring your oars or paddles and a repair kit in case of
emergencies.
When turning, take into account the wind direction, wind
force, wave direction and wave height. If necessary, reduce
your speed to prevent water from coming in or the boat from
flipping over.
Do not smoke on board your boat, and do not smoke while
refuelling.
Do not boat in or near swimming areas to prevent swimmers
from being injured.
6 .3 Towing
W
arninG
If your boat needs to be towed, it MUST be empty. So no
accessories or persons.
The towline should be attached to the ‘D’ rings on either side
of the boat. Keep a close eye on the towed boat.
8 Cleaning and maintenance
The boat should be cleaned after each use with a solution of
mild soap and clean water.
Make sure any sand, small stones, oil and dirt are rinsed
away after each use. This applies in particular to the space
between the bottom of the boat and the air chambers on
the side.
Do not use solvents to remove dust, salt or other deposits.
9 Storage
Allow your boat to dry out thoroughly. Do this in the shade
and never in direct sunlight. Store your boat in a cool, flat
and dry place with some air in the air chambers if possible.
If this is not possible, deflate the boat completely but do not
roll it up too tightly.
c
aution
Tight folding or rolling may damage the air seams.
If the boat is stored outside, for example, on the back of the
deck, we strongly recommend using a boat cover (VETUS
art. code: VBCOV20, VBCOV23, VBCOV27, VBCOV30 and
VBCOV33 boat cover for the VB200, VB230, VB270/B,
VB300/B and VB330/B respectively.
Lay the boat upside down when the boat cover is not in
use.
7 Deflating and packing
Make sure the boat is clean and dry before deflating.
• Open the inflation valves and deflate each air chamber.
• Deflate the air chambers as evenly as possible to avoid
sudden pressure changes on the partitions.
• Remove the bench and oars.
Boat with an aluminium floor:
• Remove the aluminium stringers.
• First remove no. 2 and no. 3 floor boards. Then, remove
no. 1 and no. 4 floor boards.
• Fold both side air chambers towards the inside of the
boat and, starting from the back, slowly roll them up until
all the air chambers are empty.
• Store the boat inside the carrying bag.
Boat with an inflated floor:
• Release the air from the floor and remove it from the boat.
• Fold both side air chambers towards the inside of the
boat and, starting from the back, slowly roll them up until
all the air chambers are empty.
• Store the boat inside the carrying bag.
