Clearing Jams
Media jams happen for a variety of reasons. Check the
guidelines below to reduce the potential for jams in the
Document Centre 220/230/332/340
:
- Use only recommended media. (Refer to
“Paper and
other media” on Page 8-1 and “Reference” on Page
11-1
for a list of recommended media types.)
- Store media in a controlled environment. The
temperature should be between 50° and 90°
Fahrenheit (10° and 32° Celsius). Protect unused
media by storing it in its wrapper, on a flat surface, until
you are ready to use it.
- Media must be loaded correctly in the tray you select for
the job. The orientation of the media in the paper tray
must match the orientation of the documents. Check
the fill line in the tray to make sure the paper tray is not
overloaded.
- Do not use media that is torn, wrinkled, or folded.
To clear paper in any area of the machine, always look for
the green dial or lever. Turn the dial or lift it in the direction
imprinted on it to remove paper. When clearing a jam always
remove the item carefully.
NOTE:
If the fault messages do not clear after having
removed the jammed media in the machine, switch the
machine off and then on again. Make sure that you follow
the relevant power On/Off instructions as described in
Chapter 2 of this user guide.
