HOLD
The HOLD function freezes the measurement by
showing the last measured value on the display;
the display shows the indication
H
.
Press
[HOLD]
briefly to activate this mode and
press it briefly again to deactivate it.
∆
(REL)
The measurement mode of the relative value REL
allows the operator to obtain the visualization of
the offset value on the display compared with a
reference value previously measured.
When the display shows the value to be used as
a reference, press
[HOLD]
for at least 1 second;
the display shows the icon ∆ and the instant meas
-
urement is cancelled (zero).
From now on, each value showed on the display
corresponds to the measurement difference
(positive or negative) compared with the reference
value.
Press
[HOLD]
again for at least 1 second to exit
the REL ∆ mode.
Zero
∆
(Zero-REL)
This function allows you to reset the DC current
visualization, eliminating the residual magnetiza-
tion between the jaws.
Set the rotary switch to one of the DC current
measurements; press the
[HOLD]
] key for at least
1 second to reset the residual magnetization. The
display shows the
dc_0
indication then moves to
the instant value; apply the jaw to the conductor to
be tested and see the measurement result on the
display.
In general, it is recommended to apply this
procedure every time you are preparing a DC
measurement, so as to cancel the residual mag-
netization effects and obtain results with the best
measurement accuracy.
In case the permanent residual magnetization
exceeds -5ADC or +5ADC values, the instrument
will emit 3 short acoustic signals to indicate the
impossibility to reset (in this situation, contact
Würth-Service
).
SELECT
The SELECT key takes on different functions de
-
pending on the situation in which it is pressed:
•
Measurement mode:
with the rotary switch
in
Ω
-continuity position, it allows to select
the
Ω
measurement or the continuity test
• AC or DC current: with the rotary switch in
current measurement position, it allows to
select the AC or DC measurement.
•
Backlight on:
press
[SELECT]
for at least
1 second to turn on the display backlight.
Press again for 1 second to deactivate it.
• To extend the battery life, the instrument
auto-deactivates the backlight 10 minutes
after the last operation on the rotary switch
or on the function keys.
• Elimination of the APO Auto Power-Off
function.
Hold down
[SELECT]
while turning the
instrument on; the display shows
dAPO
.
Release
[SELECT]
to confirm and enable
the instant measurement.
To extend the battery life, the auto pow-
er-off function activates after 32 minutes of
inactivity, that is to say:
—
No operation on the rotary switch or on
the keys
—
Measurement variations of less than 8.5%
of the range
—
- Resistance measurements, continuity test
or diode test other than the “out of range”
OL value.
In other words, the instrument resets the
count for the auto power-off whenever it
detects a “normal” measurement use. To
reactivate the instrument, press
[SELECT]
briefly. Never rotate the rotary switch
when a measurement is in progress
Additional options in POWER-ON
• Reduction of the auto power-off APO time:
hold down
[HOLD]
while turning the instru-
ment on; the display shows
030d
.
Release
[HOLD]
to confirm and enable the
instant measurement; the display turns off
after 8 seconds of inactivity.
Briefly press
[SELECT]
to reactivate the
instrument; from this moment the auto pow-
er-off time has returned to 32 minutes.
• Turning on the entire display: hold down
[REC]
while turning the instrument on; the
instrument shows all segments of the display
until the
[REC]
is released.

3.2. Display
ATTENTION
Before accessing the battery/fuse slot, make sure you turned off
the instrument and disconnected the test leads from the circuit
under test.
At the end of the operations, close the slot with the appropriate
screws. Never use the instrument with open or badly closed
battery slot.
4. Preparation for use
4.1. Replacement of the batteries
Before using the instrument, always check the
battery charge through the appropriate indicator
on the display. When the indicator shows that they
are low, replace them.
This instrument is supplied complete with batteries.
As the batteries naturally run down over time, it is
advisable to check the state of charge and, if neces
-
sary, replace them. The replacement of the batteries
is a purchaser’s responsibility and does not fall
within the warranty cases.
ATTENTION
Do not disassemble nor ignite
the batteries. Both actions
are extremely dangerous.
• Do not use old and new batteries, or batteries of
different types combined together.
•
Make sure you installed the batteries with the
correct polarity.
• Do not use batteries with characteristics other than
those specified.
•
Do not leave exhausted batteries inside the instru
-
ment, they could release acid that is harmful for
the instrument itself.
• Dispose of the exhausted batteries in the appropri-
ate containers.
NOTE
The backlight and the acoustic signal absorb more energy than in the normal condition of
use. Activating them, the instrument could suddenly turn off without prior warning about low
batteries condition.
