FINAL CLIPPER AND OUTPUT MENU
The Final Clipper and Output
screen contains the necessary filtering and
output controls for the AM‑55.
Test Oscillator
The built in test oscillator is capable of generating sine wave test signals
from 25Hz to 12kHz at modulation levels from 0 to 100% as set by the
Level
control. The oscillator is ON when the
Enable
check box is selected.
When Tilt Test
is selected, a clipped sine wave at 50% amplitude is generated
that can be used to properly set low frequency tilt correction in older plate
modulated transmitters
Positive Peak Threshold
This control governs the amount of positive peaks allowed by the
AM‑55’s clipper as compared to a fixed negative value. The AM‑55 is
capable of 150% positive modulation. Care should be taken when adding
positive modulation, especially to older plate modulated transmitters. In
some transmitters, excessive positive peak
modulation can cause adjacent
channel issues… or worse… expensive transmitter repairs. The
Pos. Peak
Threshold
control governs all outputs, so care should be taken when feeding
your main and backup transmitters that both will be capable of the amount
of positive modulation dialed in.
