11.1 Externally powered anode
CAUTION
Damage to the fresh water storage tank caused by gas accumulation
Gas can accumulate when operating with an externally powered anode. In rare
cases, this can lead to explosion cause by a spark. The system could be damaged.
Do not operate fresh water storage tank with externally powered anode for more
than 2 months without withdrawing any water.
Service
Observe notes on servicing [ch. 9.1.1].
The externally powered anode only operates when the fresh water storage tank is
filled.
Periodically check control lamp on mains adapter.
Ensure water withdrawal.
Corrosion protection requires an anode current greater than 1 mA with a minimum
water conductivity of 100 µS/cm (25 °C).
Measure anode current.
DANGER
Risk of electric shock
Working on the device when voltage is applied can lead to electric shock.
Isolate the device from the power supply prior to starting any work.
Safeguard against accidental restart.
If the anode current is below 1 mA with the stipulated minimum conductivity:
check function of externally powered anode,
check condition of enamel in the fresh water storage tank.
Removing
Unplug mains adapter of externally powered anode.
Remove inspection flange [ch. 9.2.3].
Replace externally powered anode.
