TABLE 7.3
HPSA-7100-R Volume Settings
1
Values above 982 are not allowed.
2
If the installation requires a reduced Master Volume setting (for an Audio Output which is less
than the maximum rated Output) to avoid possible excessive audio levels in a protected area, verify
the Master Limit value is reduced and set to equal the (reduced) Master Volume setting.
3
Allowable limits shown indicate operating limits of 85 - 110% of the recommended nominal
setting; adjusting above the upper limit of the allowable Line-In range may damage the equipment,
adjusting below the allowable limit may result in degraded output performance. Settings above or
below the allowable limits are not recommended.
4
The Line-In settings can be adjusted up or down to compensate for line loss and variations in the
Audio Source, however, should remain in the allowable limit range.
5
When setting the Line-In, the voltage readings on the Amplifier Output may be higher when first
activating the system; to obtain a more accurate output reading, allow the system to stabilize for 30
- 45 seconds prior to adjusting the setting.
7.2.3.2
Setting the Master Volume and Master Limit
In Section 7.2.3.1 the initial adjustments were set to provide maximum rated output
power. In some cases, the sound output power at maximum rated output may be too high,
such as if the speaker array is installed in a protected area or a small notification zone.
If a reduced Audio Output is required, proceed to Section 7.2.3.2.1.
If maximum rated output is required, proceed to Section 7.2.3.2.2.

THE MASTER VOLUME SHOULD NEVER BE SET HIGHER THAN 982 AS
INDICATED IN TABLE 7.3.
FAILURE TO PROPERLY SET THE MASTER LIMIT COULD RESULT IN A
USER OVERRIDING THE REDUCED MASTER VOLUME SETTING. WHEN
A REDUCED MASTER VOLUME SETTING IS REQUIRED, THE MASTER
LIMIT MUST BE SET TO MATCH THE (REDUCED) MASTER VOLUME
SETTING.
