2.1
ACOUSTIC CONSIDERATIONS
When preparing a site’s installation design, consideration should be given to obstructions
in the sound path, natural and normally occurring ambient noise, distances between HPSA
and Speakers, height of HPSA and Speakers, as well as reflections (and latency) off
buildings. For example, an HPSA located in an open area has approximately twice the
range of an HPSA in a city.
2.2
AUDIO INTERFERENCE
Signal quality can be affected by Audio interferences such as electromagnetic radiation,
modulation distortion and RF interference from external sources.
The installer should implement cables and cable run designs, as listed below, to minimize
interference. Refer to Appendix C, Audio input and Control Wiring when calculating
wire and cable runs.
•
Use only shielded, twisted pair cable for audio runs
•
Limit speaker cable run to 100 ft., maximum
•
Limit Audio Feed to 6,000 ft., maximum
•
Wire all speaker drivers in the same polarity/phase
•
Separate AC Power, Data and Audio cables; place all cabling and wires to and
from the HPSA and Speakers in separate conduits as necessary
WHEN DESIGNING AND INSTALLING ELECTRONIC CONNECTIONS
AND CABLE RUNS, CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROPERLY ROUTE
AND SEPARATE AC POWER, RF, AND SIGNALING CABLES.
It is recommended that corrosion resistant conduits be used for housing
cables and wires to and from the HPSA, Speakers, and other System
equipment.
It is recommended that corrosion resistant conduits be used for
housing cables and wires to and from the HPSA, Speakers, and other
system equipment.
Use shielded twisted pair cable for all Audio connections to minimize
interference such as Modulation Distortion and interference of Audio
Amps. Take care to ground one end of the shielded cable.
AC Power, Data and Audio cables should be placed in separate
conduits, to minimize the risk of interference.
