Setting the Volume Controls
7.2.3.2.1
Reduced Audio Output Master Volume and Master Limit Settings
If a reduced output volume level is required, follow the steps outlined in this section to
reduce the Master Volume and set the Master Limit. The Master Volume can be set either
using HyperTerminal as described below or the User interface on the HPSA’s Control
Panel (refer to Section 7.3.1). The Master Limit must be set using HyperTerminal.
1. Using HyperTerminal, press the
P key
to cycle thru the HyperTerminal settings
stopping at
Master
.
2. Decrease the
Master Volume
to the desired value for the site specific reduced
audio output using the “D” or “d” keys to decrease the value by 10 or 1.
3. Press the
P key
to cycle thru the settings stopping at
MstrLim
.
4. Decrease the
MstrLim
to equal the (reduced sound) Master Volume setting by
using the “D” or “d” keys to decrease the value by 10 or 1 such that the MstrLim
value is equal to the value set for the Master.
7.2.3.2.2
Maximum Rated Output Master Volume and Master Limit Settings
For maximum rated output power, verify the Master Volume is set to the value indicated
in Table 7.3 and verify the MstrLim value is equal to the value set for the Master; adjust if
necessary.
1. Using HyperTerminal, press the
P key
to cycle thru the HyperTerminal settings
stopping at
Master
.
2. Verify the
Master Volume
is set to the value indicated in Table 7.3; increase or
decrease the setting using the “U” or “u” keys to increase the value by 10 or 1 or
the “D” or “d” keys to decrease the value by 10 or 1.
3. Press the
P key
to cycle thru the settings stopping at
MstrLim
.
4. Verify the
Master Limit
is set to equal the Master Volume setting by using the
“U”, “u” “D” or “d” keys to increase or decrease the value by 10 or 1 such that the
MstrLim value is equal to the value set for the Master
7.2.3.3
Measuring the HPSA Amplifier Output
The Amplifier Output voltages will initially be measured under a no-load condition, with
the drivers disconnected. Once the Amplifier Outputs voltages are adjusted for maximum
rated output, the installer will connect the driver wires and measure the load-condition
Output voltages for all active channels.
When measuring the Amplifier Output voltages in either no-load or a load condition, only
those outputs for which the HPSA is configured will be active and provide an output
voltage reading on the AC Multimeter. The HPSA configurations and their respective
active output Channels are listed in Table 7.4.
The Master Volume cannot be set above the MSTRLIMT.
