• Detach the column heater from the rear enclosure installed on the sample manager chassis.
• Install the MS-extension bracket onto the CH-A rear enclosure.
• Attach the column-heater housing onto the MS-extension bracket.
• Install the MS-bracket drip tray onto the column-heater housing.
• Optionally, install the leak sensor into the MS-bracket drip tray.
• Install the column heater in the column-heater housing.
• Connect the CH-A interconnect cable and leak-sensor cable to the column heater.
• Connect the waste drain tubing to the MS-bracket drip tray, and route the tubing to a suitable
waste container.
• Reconnect and reinstall the column components so that the APH assembly is installed in the
left-hand control port, allowing the flow to go from left to right within the column compartment
and for the column-outlet tubing to exit near the mass spectrometer inlet.
2.2.1 Preparing the CH-A for installation with the MS-bracket kit
To prepare a standard, stack-mounted CH-A module for installation with an MS-bracket kit, you
must remove the column components from the column compartment (if present), detach the
column heater from the CH-A rear enclosure, and verify that the rear enclosure is properly
secured to the sample manager via the CH-A–to–SM retainer bracket.
Requirement:
To support the weight of the column heater in its extended position, the CH-A
rear enclosure's front, left-hand foot must be seated in the CH-A–to–SM retainer bracket, and the
enclosure's back plate must be secured to the sample manager's rear chassis with the supplied
TORX screw.
Warning:
To prevent burn injuries, set the column temperature to Off, and then allow
the column compartment and its components to cool for 60 minutes before touching
them. Monitor the column compartment's internal temperature to ensure that all
components are cool.
Warning:
To avoid personal contamination with biologically hazardous, toxic, and corrosive
materials, wear chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves when performing this procedure.
Warning:
To avoid eye injury, use eye protection when performing this procedure.
Notice:
To avoid damaging the electronic components of the sample manager and the
column heater, always power-off the sample manager before connecting or
disconnecting the column heater's interconnect cable.
