Introduction
The information in this manual covers the installation and operation of the MPD-980DN-O I-Onyx® Megapix-
el IP Outdoor Fixed Camera Dome. This camera should only be installed by a qualified technician using ap-
proved materials and wiring practices in accordance with the National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70, state,
and local electrical codes. Read these instructions thoroughly before beginning an installation.
The MPD-980DN-O I-Onyx Megapixel Camera Dome is a powerful IP camera compatible for operation with-
in a ViconNet® (version 5 software and higher) digital video management system. The camera can be re-
motely managed and controlled from ViconNet NVRs, DVRs and Workstations.
The MPD-980DN-O includes a 2 megapixel resolution color camera that provides day/night functionality, the-
reby providing a wide field of view with exceptional detail. The MPD-980DN-O supports H.264 compression
technology, reducing file sizes and conserving bandwidth. With MPEG-4 and M-JPEG compatibility, video
streams can also be transmitted in any of these formats, for versatile applications. The camera supports up
to 30 fps, depending on compression type and resolution. This IP camera can be powered by a
12 VDC power supply (provided), 24 VAC or Power over the Ethernet (PoE).
In order to adapt to constantly changing outdoor lighting conditions, the MPD-980DN-O features an autoiris
varifocal lens to protect from damage induced by direct sunlight. The camera also includes a removable IR-
cut filter and IR illuminators for superior image quality around the clock. For protection against the elements,
the camera dome is IP66-rated with a vandal-proof casing to withstand rain, dust, and vandalism. The PoE-
powered heater and fan further enhance the dome’s performance and reliability in extremely cold and warm
weather.
