Open Internet Explorer and enter the camera’s IP address. Upon initial login, the default Administrator’s
password is blank and the camera will not ask for a password. Passwords are set up in the Security Configu-
ration screen. Thereafter, a user will have to enter name and password. The following screen displays. If
login fails, a message appears in the background of this screen.
Note: If your Web browser is earlier than Internet Explorer 6.5 (IE5), it is recommended to upgrade to IE6.5.
Important:
After the IP address is changed, be sure to keep a record of it; you will need it later in order to
configure the camera in the ViconNet software.
After all IP addresses have been set, if the PC is on a different subnet, it can be changed back to original
settings if necessary.
After setting all the cameras’ IP addresses, you can continue with camera configuration or exit and define the
camera(s) later through the ViconNet system.
Note: The screens below are using Internet Explorer as the web browser in MPEG-4 mode; when in JPEG
mode, some of the video controls are eliminated. Vicon recommends using Internet Explorer. If Firefox
is being used, Quicktime must be installed to view video.
For initial access to the camera in Windows, the web browser may prompt for permission to install a new
plug-in for the camera on the Internet Explorer (includes ActiveX). Permission request depends on the Inter-
net security settings of the user’s PC. If the highest security level is set, the computer may prohibit any instal-
lation and execution attempt. This plug-in has been registered for certificate and is used to display the video
in the browser. Users may click on Yes to proceed. If the web browser does not allow the user to continue to
install, check the Internet security option and lower the security levels or contact your IT or networking su-
pervisor for help.
After logging in, the Main screen previews the video and provides access to configuration functions.
The MPD-980DN-O has many configurable features. This section highlights only those features that are re-
levant to ViconNet. If the camera is not being used with ViconNet, refer to Appendix A for additional settings.
Appendix D has a table of default settings.
