Install the 2 check valve retaining block pads when the check valve retaining blocks

are positioned in the appropriate place.

Check the check valve cover plate gasket thoroughly and install a new one if it is

worn or damaged. Then use the attaching hardware to install the check valve cover

plate and gasket.

NOTE:

If you removed the suction or discharge flanges, replace both gaskets and

attach them to the pump casing with their attaching hardware.

N. IMPELLER & FRONT WEARPLATE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT

After the suction inlet is installed, ensure the rotating assembly retaining plate’s outer

bolt circle is loose, and be sure the inner bolt circle is tight. Tighten the outer bolt

circle evenly on the rotating assembly while revolving the pump shaft until the

impeller scrubs the wearplate. This will indicate when the impeller is in contact with

the front wearplate. Measure the distance between the rotating assembly retaining

ring and the pump case.

Take out 3 bolts to loosen the outer bolt circle of the rotating assembly retaining ring,

and reattach them in the retaining ring’s 3 jack bolt holes. Evenly tighten the 3 jack

bolts to force the rotating assembly out of the pump case and allow installation of

shims measuring from .010 to .015 more than the previous clearance. Take out the

3 jack bolts and return them o their prior position with an adequate amount of shims.

Repeat this procedure on the remaining outer bolt circle bolts.

You may need to repeat the adjustment procedure from time to time to make up for

normal sear between the impeller and the wearplate.

V. MAINTAINING THE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE

A pressure relief valve is provided for additional safety to the pump and its operator.

It is located on the pump casing (Refer to Liquid Temperature & Overheating in

Section IX. OPERATION, Part C. 4 of the instructions).

WSP™ recommends replacing the pressure relief valve assembly during every

scheduled major maintenance operation or any time the pump overheats, causing

the valve to activate.

Never

replace the pressure relief valve with a non-approved

substitute. It

must be

an approved replacement unit from Weir Specialty Pumps.

Remove, inspect and clean the pressure relief valve regularly. When the inspection

and cleaning are completed. apply

Loctite Pipe Sealant with Teflon No. 592

or an

equivalent product on the relief valve threads before reinstalling in the pump.

A. Final Pump Assembly

Install the shaft key and any protective guards used over the rotating parts

before reconnecting the pump to its power source.
