4.1 Automatic setup of your data connections
Your device is able to configure itself for data services for many of the major operators
across the world. Simply insert your SIM card and switch on your device. When the
device powers on,
it will configure itself or Web, WAP and MMS services. I
f the settings
are not known for your operator, the device will notify you and you will need to enter these
manually.
Note:
The use of Web and WAP access and Multimedia Messaging Service is subject to
your Mobile Service Provider. You must ensure that your subscription has Web , WAP
and MMS enabled before using these services.
4.2 Manual setup of your data connections
Introduction
You may connect to the internet in using your mobile service provider’ s data network.
The mobile operator may offer you service through a GPRS connection (fast, but
generally billed by volume of data transferred), or through a Circuit Switched (slow,
generally billed by amount of time connected). You should check with your mobile service
provider how you may access the internet using their network.
Create a GPRS connection
GPRS is a packet-based wireless communication service which allows users to send and
receive data with their mobile phones in applications such as Email and web-browsing.
Normally, use of this service is charged by the Service Provider based on the data traffic
volume.
Every network connection is different. You should gather all of the relevant information or
network settings you need from your Mobile Service Provider before starting this process.
1. On the Home screen, click

2. Click
GPRS.
3. Click
Menu
>
Add
.
4. Enter the following information, and click
Done
.

Description
, enter a name for the connection.

In
Connects to
, select the type of network to which you will connect.
•
In
Access point
, enter the access point name.
•
In
User name
, enter your user name for the GPRS network, if required.
•
In
Password
, enter your password, if required.
•
In
Primary DNS
, enter the primary Domain Name System (DNS) address, if required.
•
In
Secondary DNS
, enter the secondary DNS address, if required.
•
In
IP address
, enter the Internet Protocol (IP) address for the device, if required.
The device uses this connection when you open a program that connects to the Internet.
