CHAPTER 11: CASTERS, FORKS AND CASTER PIN LOCKS

Fork Extensions

Tools Needed:

• 5/32” Allen Wrench

• 7/16” Open End Wrench

• 9/16” Box Wrench

1. Remove the caster. See ”Casters and Bearing Forks - Replacing Casters” on pages 11-1 to 11-2.

2. Completely remove the Allen screw, washers and locknut that secure the “Bullet” Caster Housing. See Figure 11-8.

3. Slide the “Bullet” Caster Housing out of the caster mount and remove the dowel.

4. Insert the dowel into the new “Bullet” Caster Housing attached to the new fork and slide it into the caster mount.

5. Insert the Allen screw through the washer and into the caster mount, making sure it slides through the notch in the

“Bullet” Caster Housing and threads into the hole in the dowel.

6. Slide on the second washer and tighten the locknut finger-tight.

7. Reinstall the caster. See “Casters and Bearing Forks - Replacing Casters” on pages 11-1 to 11-2.

8. Follow the procedures under “Adjustable Angle Fork” on page 11-4 to square the caster.

Tools Needed:

• 7/16” Open End Wrench

1. Remove the caster. See” Casters and Bearing Forks - Replacing Casters” on pages 11-1 to 11-2.

2. Completely remove the upper Allen screw, washers and locknut that secure the “Bullet” Caster Housing. See Figure

11-6.

3. Loosen but do not remove the lower Allen screw in the caster mount.

4. Slide the “Bullet” Caster Housing out of the caster mount and remove the dowel.

5. Insert the dowel into the new “Bullet” Caster Housing attached to the new fork and slide it into the caster mount.

6. Insert the upper Allen screw through the caster mount, making sure it slides through the notch in the “Bullet” Caster

Housing and threads into the hole in the dowel.

7. Slide on the second washer and tighten the locknut finger-tight.

8. Reinstall the caster. See “Casters and Bearing Forks - Replacing Casters” on pages 11-1 to 11-2.

9. Follow the procedures under “Adjustable Angle Fork” on page 11-4 to square the caster.
