INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION
Backing up and Restoring Engine Configuration
Click
Backup Settings
to download a backup
configuration file. The backup file for
configuration settings is stored on your local
machine or on a removable drive attached to it.
To load a backup configuration, click the
Browse
button under the Restore section and navigate to
the backup file on your computer. When a file is
selected, click
Restore
Settings
to execute.
When restoring, either from backup or to factory
defaults, it is possible to keep the current network
settings intact. Note that VX will automatically
restart to apply the new configuration.
DO NOT attempt to load a backup configuration
from another type of VX system. For example,
you can not load an older VX or VX Prime
configuration into a VX Enterprise or VX Prime+.
Also, don’t attempt to load a VX Enterprise config into a VX Prime+ engine and vice versa.
Many people have multiple VX engines, and keep a single one as a spare, with the configs of all of their live systems in a folder
on their computer. This makes it easy to drop a config on a system and make it the “live” unit while you get the other repaired.
The system can also be set back to factory default settings from here.
Notice that the backup configuration will not save licenses. In order to back these up, you’ll need to go to the licenses page and
back them up from there.
