INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION
GPIO
VX supports GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) control. It’s a useful way to control functions in the VX or to get helpful
indications of VX conditions or modes. The Livewire channel assignment for this is done on this page.
Electrical connections are made via Livewire GPIO xNodes. They are equipped with D connectors using the Axia standard 5
inputs and 5 outputs per channel. You’ll find more about these in the appendix of this manual. The configuration starts with
zero GPIO channels, and you add them as you see fit by selecting a function from the
ADD NEW
drop-down menu. There are
separate
ACTIONS
(inputs) and
INDICATIONS
(outputs) to choose from in these menus.
For
ACTIONS
, enter the Livewire Channel number of the GPIO port being used for the outputs in the
CHANNEL
field. Then
select which
PIN
the function will correspond to. Finally, since Actions are inputs, select
FROM GPIO
for
TYPE
. Available
actions include:
TAKE NEXT CALL, BLOCK ALL, AUTOANSWER AND HOLD, MUTE RINGER
, among others.
For
INDICATIONS
, enter an available Livewire Channel number in the
CHANNEL
field (or the appropriate channel number
for the GPIO port you are using). Then tell the VX on which
PIN
the output will appear. Since Indications are outputs, set
the
TYPE
to
TO GPIO
. Available indications include:
LINE RINGING, NEXT CALL AVAILABLE, BLOCK ALL ACTIVE, RINGER
MUTED, AUTO HOLD AND AUTO ANSWER ENABLED
, among others.
Since each GPIO port has 5 input and 5 output pins, you can have up to 5 indications and 5 actions on a
single LW channel number / GPIO port. Also note that GPIO Livewire channels are not advertised to the
network. Therefore, you will never see GPIO Livewire channels in the BROWSE window of the xNode.
GPIO Actions
are inputs to the VX from some external source, which could be nothing more than a pushbutton.
GPIO
Indications
are outputs from the VX. For example, “there’s a Ringing Line” could be used for a wall-mounted lamp and Delay
dump was pressed
to trigger a profanity delay unit. You can find the details regarding the corresponding pins of the GPIO
connectors in the various GPIO xNode manuals or in the “GPIO Reference” in the appendix of this Manual.
Address Book
Users of the VSet telephones will likely want to have pre-configured phone numbers stored for dialing. When a studio is
selected from the
CONFIGURATION > STUDIOS
page, an
ADDRESS BOOK
link will show in the navigation bar to the left.
Click on it and you will be taken to the Address Book for that particular studio. Configuring it is simple. Enter the name of the
contact in the
NAME
field and enter the phone number / SIP address of the contact you would like to store. Click
ADD
to save
the entry. These items are viewable in the VSet’s
ADDRESS BOOK
menu.
