Operation
VSet Operation
There are full sets of manuals for the VSet series of controllers available on our website. This section is meant to be a quick,
“Schoolhouse Rock” version of the VSet operation. If you would like more information about VSet operation and setup, refer
to the product manual for the controller you have.
Select Studio and Show
If these have not been already selected, this should be done as the first step before using the VSet. Press the Menu button to
access the menu functions. The LCD will show the various items that can be changed. Select the studio and show you want and
then exit the menu by pressing the Menu button.
Installation setup options such as
Setup
or
Engine Setup
are protected by requiring that appropriate key is pressed and held
for 5 seconds when configuration options will be changed. Otherwise, they are greyed out. These settings can cause problems if
changed casually or by the wrong people.
Selecting the Studio is done through the Engine Setup menu (press and hold to access) while the show setting can be done by
any user from the Main Menu. The studio option is not expected to be change often or casually, but probably only when a new
VSet is installed or one is replaced.
Set Talent or Producer Mode
The VSet should be set to Talent mode when it is located in the studio and is used to put calls on the air. Producer mode is for a
VSet that is being used by a producer to screen calls. In Producer mode, calls cannot be put on-air and are protected from being
dropped. The function of the right line button column is different in the two modes to serve the needs of each type of operator,
as described below.
Press the menu button to access the menu functions. The LCD will show the various items that can be changed. Select
Talent
or
Producer
and then exit the menu functions by pressing the menu button.
The Line Info Display
Each line has a corresponding portion of the LCD display to the right of the line button that shows status and info about that
line.
Next indicator
The ‘>>’ symbol. Marks the line that will be taken when the
Next
button is pressed.
Fader number
The small yellow/orange rectangle near the status icon.
