6.4. Analog Outputs – Range Configuration
The analyzer has four Analog Outputs. A connector for these outputs is located on
the instruments back panel and is labeled
A1
,
A2
,
A3
and
A4
respectively (only
A1
– A3 are used for the M300E). All four outputs can be factory or user configured
for a full-scale output of 0.1V, 1V, 5V or 10V. The first three outputs can be
equipped with optional 0-20 mA current-loop drivers that can be configured under
software for 0-20, 2-20, or 4-20 mA operation.
6.4.1.
Physical Range vs. Measurement Range
Functionally, the Model 300E Gas Filter Correlation CO Analyzer has one hardware
Physical Range that is capable of determining CO concentrations between 0 ppm
and 1000 ppm. This architecture improves reliability and accuracy by avoiding the
need for extra, switchable, gain-amplification circuitry.
Most applications do not require anywhere near the full 0-1000 ppm range. The
analyzer includes software that configures and scales a “Measurement Range” to
allow the user to optimize the analyzer’s operation for their specific application.
The span of the instrument’s Measurement Range is also used during calibration
procedures. This ensures that the portion of the hardware Physical Range being
recorded is calibrated as accurately as possible. Additionally, the scale and limits
selected for the Measurement Range also sets the ranges of the analyzer’s
A1
and
A2
Analog outputs.
Both the iDAS values stored in the CPU’s memory and the concentration values
reported on the front panel are unaffected by the settings chosen for the
Measurement Range(s) of the instrument.
The
A1
and
A2
outputs report CO Concentration and can also have their units of
measure and measure span adjusted.
EXAMPLE:
A1
OUTPUT: Output Signal = 0-5 VDC representing 0-100 ppm
concentration values.
A2
OUTPUT: Output Signal = 0 – 10 VDC representing 0-50 ppm
concentration values.
Additionally, these two outputs can be configured to operate independently or be
slaved together.
The TEST output is independent of the
A1
and
A2
outputs and is used to record
certain operational parameters. Range Scaling is dependent on the specific variable
chosen (see Section 6.4.7).
