The FlexSet telephones will always enter one of three states:
1.
Initialization
2.
Stand-Alone
3.
On-Line Operation
Diagnostic tests can be carried out and diagnostic tools can be used in each of these
states.
Initialization
Initialization can be defined as the stage which the telephone undergoes from the
moment the software begins to run, until it enters one of the other 2 states (On-line or
Stand Alone). The initialization stage is temporary and must end in one of the above
two steps within a short period of time (several seconds).
During this period the telephone software performs several self-check tests. Damaged
or problematic elements (RAM or EPROM) will be discovered several seconds after the
start of normal operation.
The normal initialization procedure includes 4 essential steps listed below:
Step 1. Initialization of Hardware and Memory Variables.
Step 2. Initialization of Layer 1 communication - component synchronization,
communication with Coral card.
Step 3. Initialization of Layer 2 communication - Line Access Procedure D (LAP-D)
with respect to card.
Step 4. Initialization of Layer 3 communication - the main program initializes and
associates the relevant database areas for the keyset.
When the telephone initialization program is running, an asterisk ( ‘ *’) is displayed on
the phone’s LCD display and the 4 steps listed above are carried out. In the event that
the initialization is not completed (Layer 3 was not reached or did not initialize within
10 - 20 seconds) the telephone will go into Stand-Alone mode.
