Inspect for Damage
1. Inspect the shipping carton for evidence of physical damage or mishandling prior
to opening.
2. Inspect all parts for damage.
3. Report any damage to the carrier immediately.
4. If it is necessary to make a damage claim to the carrier, do not move the shipping
carton until it has been examined by a representative of the carrier.
Once the module is fully assembled, it is no longer necessary to keep the empty
carton(s). Dispose of it in accord with local regulations.
Unpacking the Shipping Container
The following items should be present in the box containing the FlexSet 40B:
1. One (1) FlexSet 40B unit.
2. One (1) plastic connecting piece (see
Figure 7-7
) .
3. 8cm RJ-45 Connector Cord.
4. The FlexSet 40B comes with a preprinted DESI label inserted beneath the faceplate.
Additional blank DESI Labels may be purchased from the dealer in Letter (Cat.No.
7244-7400434) or A4 (Cat.No. 7244-7400424) size paper, as described on page
page
1-14
.
If installing more than 3 FlexSet 40B units, you will need to use an extended
50 cm RJ-45 connector cord (Cat.No. 7244-6904088).
Connections
There are two types of connections: Electrical and physical.
Electrical Connection
The electrical connection is made by attaching the 8-conductor RJ-45 connecting cable
between the FlexSet 280/281 and the FlexSet 40B or between two FlexSet 40Bs, and by
setting the slide switch to a unique position.
Each FlexSet 40B has a 3-position slide switch on its bottom lower side. Each
FlexSet 40B has a unique “address” that must be defined by the position of the slide
switch. The first FlexSet 40B attached to the FlexSet 280/281 should have its switch set
