Overview
All of your TMA experiments will have the
following general outline. In some cases, not all
of these steps will be performed:
• Selecting and calibrating the appropriate
probe type.
• Entering experiment information through the
TA controller (sample and instrument
information).
• Creating and loading the thermal method on
the controller.
• Attaching and setting up external
accessories as required ( e.g., purge gas, air
cool, gas switching accessory).
• Zeroing the probe
• Preparing and loading the sample
• Adjusting the thermocouple position
• Measuring sample length
• Adding coolant to the furnace reservoir for
subambient operation
• Starting the experiment.
To obtain accurate results, follow the procedures
carefully, and check calibration periodically
(once a month). Consult the instrument control
software online documentation for details on
calibrating the TMA.
