Evaporator Assembly Removal
The evaporator assembly consists of the evaporator
and heat exchanger. One evaporator assembly is
mounted to the rear wall in each section with screws.
NOTES:
The refrigerant valve with the filter-drier must be
•
replaced when replacing an evaporator.
After capillary tube separates, check tubing for
•
internal burrs. If burrs exist, rescore the capillary
tube.
To remove the evaporator assembly, first remove the
evaporator cover in the appropriate section and ser-
erate the unit, then (See Figures 5-21 and 5-22):
1. Evacuating refrigerant from the sealed system.
2. Extract screws securing evaporator to back wall.
3. At the refrigerant valve assembly, use a file to score
a line around both capillary tubes to the heat
exchangers, one inch or less from the refrigerant
valve outlets. Fatigue capillary tubes at the score
line until they separate.
4.
With a tubing cutter cut the inlet tube to the drier
approximately 1/2 inch from the drier.
5.
With a tubing cutter cut appropriate suction line
from suction line “T.”
NOTE:
It is recommended that the “T” be replaced.
6.
Remove the permagum from around the heat
exchanger opening.
7.
Pull the evaporator and heat exchanger out of the
wine section.
Refrigerant Valve Removal
NOTE:
After capillary tube separates, check tubing for
internal burrs. If burrs exist, rescore the capillary tube.
To remove the filter-drier, first sererate the unit, then
(See Figures 5-22):
1. At refrigerant valve assembly, use a file to score a
line around both capillary tubes to the heat
exchangers, one inch or less from the refrigerant
valve outlets. Fatigue capillary tubes at the score
line until they separate.
2.
With a tubing cutter cut the inlet tube to the drier
approximately 1/2 inch from the drier.
3.
Disconnect the electrical leads from the refrigerant
valve.
