Library-to-Fibre Channel
Library Fibre Channel operation is directed through the MPU card, which is
connected to the MPV card. The MPU card slides into the lower slot of the
compact peripheral component interconnect (CPCI) assembly, which contains
the MPV card. This lower slot is designated Port 0 by the microcode and is the
default location that currently must be used.
The MPV card, which operates as the CPCI backplane for the Fibre Channel
interface, attaches to the MPC at J211. The client path for fiber operation is:
Client › Fibre Channel Component › MPU › MPV › MPC .
Note: The MPU card is attached to the MPV card. The MPU card contains a
Class 1 laser product that complies with sections 21CFR 1040.10 and
1040.11 of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations. Class 1
laser products do not require any special safety precautions.
L-Series Library Admin
The MPK card, above right of the MPC card, contains an EEPROM that:
• Identifies the machine for a specific vendor (if required). When installed,
the operator panel will display that vendor’s name.
• Enables the L-Series Library Admin
If the MPK card is present and the MPC card must be replaced, you must re-
connect the MPK card to the new MPC card. The vendor information and the
Horizon L Series Library Monitor will remain effective.
However , the customer’s
password and IP address
must
be re-entered during configuration.
Library-to-Operator Panel
The operator panel communicates tape library status, configuration, diagnostic
sequences, and FSC information. The operator panel provides buttons for
running diagnostics and examining the 20 most recent tape library FSCs.
Library-to-SER1 Port
The SER1 port provides a command line interface to the MPC card, allowing
you to clear (purge) the FSC log and run diagnostic tests through a laptop. This
interface is through an RJ45 connection.
Note: The baud rate for the SER1 port is 38,400.
CAUTION:
System Interruption: Be sure that the library and drives are offline before
using this interface. It is a direct, command line interface and will take
the library offline without posting a warning message.
