6.4.1 Standard Basket — Loading General Instruments
CAUTION — Instrument Care

ALWAYS confirm compatibility with the instrument manufacturer.
l
ALWAYS follow the manufacturer instructions if processing instruments
with special characteristics, e.g. fiber optics or rigid optics.
l
ALWAYS follow the manufacturer instructions when processing
instruments.
l
ALWAYS open box-jointed instruments.
l
ALWAYS disassemble instruments that are designed to be taken apart.
Instruments with no internal surface (non- cannulated), such as clamps, scissors,
and forceps, can be placed directly into a standard basket.
1. Open mechanical instruments, such as scissors
and clamps.
2. Place instruments in the baskets, distributing
evenly. Make sure instruments DO NOT
protrude through the basket or above the top of
a basket.
3. Any small instruments that may fall through the
basket should be first placed inside a mesh tray,
and then placed in the basket.
IMPORTANT
Basket loading MUST NOT exceed 10 kg (22 lb). If the basket is excessively
loaded, transfer the excess instrument load to additional baskets, or set aside
for the next processing cycle.
